How To: Practice your leg push on a tennis serve

Practice your leg push on a tennis serve

Welcome to a tennis lesson from FuzzyYellowBalls, the the best place to learn how to play tennis online. Our free video tennis lessons teach you how to play the game in a new way that combines technical analysis, visual learning, and step-by-step progressions.

The seventh part of the tennis serve is the leg push. It's the "other" part of the racket drop. We divided the racket drop into two videos to make it easier to learn. From the trophy pose, push off both legs up and into the tennis court. The key to this step is that you want to be fully pushed off your legs -- both legs should be straight -- at the same instant the tennis racket is pointed straight down behind your back. Every single good server gets to this body position, as we demonstrate in the video. It's a critical element of an effective serve.

The coach is just a phenomenal teacher. Love the guy. Even watching videos of other top players serve is not enough unless someone is able to go through the little details, so we can get the best results.
